THE TWILIGHT SAD

The Twilight Sad, from Banton/Kilsyth/Glasgow Scotland, are a post-punk indie rock band, comprised of James Graham - vocals, Andy MacFarlane - guitar, and Mark Devine - drums. Their songs transition strongly into something a little more form-fitting carrying over into their commitment to a morose atmosphere. The band describes their sound as "folk with layers of noise," and music critics have described the band as "perennially unhappy" and "a band that injects real emotion and dynamic excitement into a comparatively standard template.” The noise transitions to “layers of melody”.

James's handsome thick Scottish accent and deeply entrenched characteristics happens to be their strength exorcising the sorrows of lessons learned along the way. It is more about obsession than release, it's mesmerizing and the best use of repetition as a conveyance of passion. The band has released 5 Albums and have toured around the USA and Europe. In 2008 they produced a mini-album called ‘Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did’. Their latest full album ‘Nobody Wants To Be Here and Nobody Wants To Leave’, came out in late October 2014 receiving universally positive reviews.

  • ‘There’s a Girl in the Corner’ -  hits you in a spot you thought you’d never had. Jame’s Scottish roll and handsome vocals take you deeper into the woods. The eerie music sets the scene. The strength of the music, as it explodes into richness, compels you into the adventure. Robert Smith from 'The Cure' did a remake of this song.

  • ‘Last January’ do you remember last January? This song takes you there. The beat motions you forward. Now to remember the past. You are seen at night going in one direction. It takes you all night, feeling the same….. There is nothing to fear….

  • ‘Sick’ Gentle voice with the rolling accent. Nice indie rock. Such a compelling song that portrays nothing of the title but still gives a disturbing layer.

  • ‘I Could Give You All That You Don’t Want’ a sad song but gently tells you a story. Beautifully sung. Sweeping.

  • ‘It Was Never the Same’ if you thought you have felt all the emotions, this song will bring out the ones you never thought you had as all of the songs do. There is such lavishness to the music. A love will never die. We tried to save them all.

Their music becomes increasingly hypnotic. It will seep into your soul.
