Black Anemone

Black Anemone is from Jönköping, Sweden. The members of the band are Mattias Sandberg - Lead vocals (and various instruments), Adam Bernström - drums, Andreas Svensson - acoustic and electric guitar, Tilda Spross - whistle and second lead, Fredrik Nilsson - accordion, Martin Hjärtkvist - banjo and mandolin, Axel Martinsson - fiddle, Nermin Festa - Electric guitar and Rickard Olsson - Bass. The band started out in 2010 when the front man Mattias wanted to start a new project fresh into High School where he and most of the soon to be members were studying music.

Mattias wanted to mix the sound as Traditional folk mostly as an Irish Trad mix. Strong emphasis in roots helped categorize it within the rock and punk genre. He recruited his longtime friend Andy on guitar and they both quickly met Adam on drums. After a few months of rehearsing, Black Anemone was formed. The band released an EP in 2011 and a full length album titled "King of Kings" in 2013. They've gotten themselves quite the reputation in their home town area winning awards like "Best local act".

Their latest release "In It For Life" is the band's tribute to the love of playing music including the love of playing live, writing music, traveling and the constant grinding that is comprised of the music business today! They are and will forever be in it for life.

  • Amber's Point - Banjo strumming in bluegrass leading into full band with added folk punk. There's a drum inside the chest as we walk down on Lincoln's Crest. Got my finest slacks and boots. Me and the boys are here to gamble. Take a chance at Amber's point.  . . . .

  • Banks of the Roses -  Mandolin leading into a full punk rock roster. On the banks of the roses my love and I sat down. And I took out my fiddle to play a lively tune. In the middle of the tune she sighed and she said, "Johnny, love you Johnny. Don't you leave me".  . . . .

  • Drunken Sailor - Banjo, fiddle and full band following behind the tune. Old traditional punk style. What shall we do with a drunken sailor. What shall we do with a drunken sailor? What shall we do with a drunken sailor early in the morning.  . . . .

  • Every Dog Has Its Day - Beginning with a guitar a mandolin is added along with an accordion. The full band kicks into a steady rocking rhythm. Well I  love to stray far away. Leave this place 'cause it's killing me. This old town is starting to be a bother. Trying to cope walking around the street. I hope somebody has mercy on me.  . . . .

  • Freedom for All - Raucous pub tune. So we drink to fall and dance trough the ball but that don't mean we are drunkards. Fighting for life escaping demise that they don't want to brawl with me.   . . . .

  • Hellhounds on my Back - Buzzing minor notes as if in dread. The full band explodes into the background of the tale. I went to the graveyard to find myself a priest.
I said to him kindly won’t you rid me of this beast.
He said your soul is in perdition your salvation won’t be cheap. I said name your prize father and get these hellhounds off of me.  . . . .

  • In it for Life - Shouting the lyrics loud for the beginning of another pub singalong. Woah oh oh. Right back it again as we always said. Woah oh oh. Live or die we're in it for life. The music picks up rocking faster.

  • It's a Short Life ( but a merry one ) - Accordion in the front and full band background. A drum trips in. It’s a short life but a merry one when you’re baptized in blood and rum. So bury me knee deep where nobody can find my bones.  . . . .

Though the band has seen many changes in the original line-up since the start, the Folk punk band still continues to grow for each counting hour. "We love to bring chaos and mischief to the world. We like to go a little bit crazy and stir things up". Black Anemone will always set the bar high and keep pushing the envelope to always get it to a higher point. This group of young, edgy and sharp dressed "Folk rockers" is not afraid to be straight up in your face. They plan on going international in the near future. To find out more about this band go to:
