LIGHTS THAT CHANGE

Lights That Change is an alternative Dreampop ethereal wave project originating from North Wales. The band is headed by Marc Joy. After many years of producing, engineering and mastering artists from a broad range of genres, he turned his attention towards his own solo and collaborative creative endeavors. Thus, this is how Lights That Change was born. Marc's aim was at getting back to why he began a musical career in the first place. His energies are now being channeled into creating the perfect dreamscape sonic horizon primarily based on guitars. Mal Holmes (OMD drummer) is also involved with the project and is very supportive. He programmed drums for LTC on a previous release called Voices and has also contributed to tracks that are on the forthcoming album.

The field photo was taken on Moel Famau mountainside, in North Wales.  This is the countryside very near where LTC write, record and produce their music.

Members include Mandy Clare on vocals, John Bryan on bass guitar and Mal Holmes on programing. Floating vocals sit effortlessly on melodic swirls.

The trio has enjoyed successful releases over the past 12 months setting their stride in representing Wales in European live performances.

Still rooted in Post-punk, Dream-pop, Shoe gaze and Gothic cultures of early 4 AD, LTC offers elements of hope, fear, rage, insight and euphoria threaded through with social commentary. Smashing through the social media deluge to deliver a fresh experience, Lights That Change invites you into a subtly dazzling cave of stellar tracks packaged and delivered in their own now-trademark, modern, captivating style.

Presenting LIGHTS THAT CHANGE's new CD called 'DARK NARROWS'

Introducing 5 new tracks which offer 4 original songs from the band and 1 cover with kind permission from Paul Humphreys and Martin Cooper of 'Orchestral Manoeuvres in The Dark' (OMD).

  • Dark Narrows - A boomerang reverb with depth as the guitar and bass work off each other. A haunting voice instrument joins in. It's Mandy's voice echoing in the distance but in the present. Government control and dictatorship trickles down to dismantling and destruction of the system.

  • All That Matters - Drums and spacious guitars working up to unusual beats that make the song work with uniqueness. Added background voices give it accent. Buzzing guitar. What do we love the most when what we love is constantly changing shape? What matters most?

  • Driver - An indie rock space trip. Mandy's voice is in command as the drums keep up with the pace. An experience of a wild trip with a sense of being safe and sound. You're falling as if in a dream.

  • Souvenir - The guitar comes through like ripples of water moved then building up to a wave and the underwater sound frequency as it comes to the shore. The frequency becomes the voice as you travel with it. It's as if you are watching dolphins playing amongst themselves. A creation of what you had was formed within the mind but what is kept is a souvenir of the best of what remained.

  • ........... - It feels as though you are rotating within a tunnel and going through a crazy trip where you don't know if you are going backwards or forward. Echoes and distortion. Instead of fighting the sound, close your eyes and flow with the feelings.  Industrial darkwave. The voice drifts.

A unique passion almost like retro electronic pop. Modern effects and almost eerie-like constructing. To find out more about this band go to:
