REVOLUSHN

REVOLUSHN is from San Fransisco, California. The musicians are: No - guitar, keyboard and vocals, Dekay (aka David Kendrick) - drums and lyrics, Guinevere Q NBFD - bass guitar and vocals, Young Sun - Guitar, vocals and Mandolin and Schubert Ola - keyboards and vocals. Revolushn began as a studio band that played songs written by No and Dekay. The group recorded enough songs to put out the album The Freshman, which received critical acclaim, airplay, and modest sales. Several personnel changes and dozens of shows later, the band got serious, stopped playing shows, and began the writing and recording process for the next album. From that point, it took 16 months to get to the release of the second Revolushn album called Further!!.

The release date of September of 2016 was postponed because No and Dekay weren't feeling it was ready yet. They started writing again. During this period, No met Guinevere Q and Young Sun on the Open Mic scene in San Francisco. They hit it off quickly and both agreed to join forces with No, Dekay, and Schubert Ola, who had worked with Revolushn since 2015. The last song to be added to Further!! was written in Thailand in January of 2017.  Then came the final tracking which included the vocals. No calls this part of the process Dz, the pure torture period. Dz had to come up with melodies, the tone, and feel for nine songs all at once because No was lazy and procrastinated til the last minute. It took dozens of bottles of wine and two months working everyday to get there. Then he had to go in and sing it all over again sober. The songs had great feel and melodies, but it sounded like a drunken sailor. The ending results are very impressive.

The nine songs on Further!! have a cohesion that lasts from the opening bars of the first song to the closing chorus of the final song. Young Sun and NO form an intricate wall of guitars that move the music beyond the confines of a regular rock band. Guinevere Q plays lyrical and solid bass lines while still locking in with Dekay and holding down the fort as the guitars fly. Dekay’s drums shine on this collection.

  • Further!! - Electronic brain freeze with funk and rock. I'm seeking the sound of the beacon beyond. I'm seeking the sound of the world beyond.  . . . .

  • Dinosaurs - Sounds of electronic data being programmed. Spacey jazz rock music proceeds. It's a fantasy world; some times dark sometimes not. Little Creatures are bound to fail. Forever searching for something that is not there.  . . . .

  • The River - A faint electronic screech then the thunder of drums. Electronics weave their way in. Drums and the tapping of cymbals work into a singular guitar working into a beautiful psychedelic tune. I keep rolling down the River. River take me home. I keep rolling on forever, River take me home.  . . . .

  • Weird Little Minds - A slap of a cymbal. Funk and psych rock with a lyrical lemon twist. I got it. The report came from Department X.
Its three full pages of text. And in it I found out what is next, what is next, what is next.  . . . .

  • The Man Who Knew Everything - Alt rock. I am the man. If it happened behind my head then it was already dead. Fleeced of intent and where it went. Spent once. I had enough.  . . . .

  • You Will Go - A tambourine tapping along with a strange psychedelic tune. It develops rhythm and becomes a strange lullaby. Hush my little one. Don't say a word. Build you castles high but don't let in any light. You will go.  . . . .

  • Dog Gets High - Experimental psych rock developing into echoes. Political. Sometimes you just gotta say Woof! Woof! I'm drifting. I am feeling adrift and I am strangely strange.  . . . .

  • All is as it should be - Awesome drum beat. Electric guitars are added along with electronic fusion. A funky space rock beat. There are parasites and helpers, mimics, hosts and guests. And with this information you can pass your biology test.  . . . .

Alt rock. Psychedelic, pop, funk, trance, techno and blues. A balance between chaotic and precise. Singing about space and life. Compelling. An American protest band. To find out more about REVOLUSHN go to:
