Kingdom of Crows

Kingdom of Crows, from Dublin, Ireland, began with a one man acoustic project in 2011, before founding member, Stephen Kelly, took to the studio in 2012 recording a demo with two guests which led to some Dublin based shows as a three-piece acoustic act. In 2013, after the performances garnered positive feedback, Kelly was prompted to work on a full album. Joining him in its creation and completing the band’s lineup are vocalist Lucy Earley, bassist Robert Stanley and drummer Ken McGrath.

Kingdom of Crows received the 3rd best Irish album of 2015 in a blog called 'Remys Music and Film'.

They've played 2 major gigs. One was the Vantastival Festival in county Louth and another was a headliner at the Bello bar Dublin with support from Reverend Jim's Panic Worship.

The Truth is the Trip is a psychedelic prog-rock piece of wonder. The overall mood of the album is haunting, ethereal, fantastical and trance-inducing. There's a ton of scope for this band to work within the future basis of this album. One would easily see it as being placed on any of the respected international music websites and publications. It would be hard to argue that The Truth is the Trip is one of the best alternative Irish rock albums in years.

Dreamless Sleep (Official Video)

  • The Sirens Of Titan - It begins with multiple conversations going on all at once as if in a busy mall. Then an eerie siren sounds off. The conversations fade and forboding doom ensues as the music prepares you for the next song.

  • Why? - Cuts to your soul searching out the depths that you may see. You ask why? Should you run? Are you burned down to the ashes? Try to love. Are the flames so blue? Hold on. Don't let the lights fade. Return.

  • Beauty Is The Witch - Everything a witch does, everything a witch sees, everything a witch goes through, she sees beauty as everything. What are the things that she worships and is she better than you? Her dreams tell differently than what she shows. What are they really thought of?

  • Dreamless Sleep - First you hear the wind as if the drifting into sleep is taking you on another journey. Into the woods you go switching to a bathtub full of clear water. Her face slowly submerges. Mushrooms. Was it a drug?  It becomes a ceremony. Your soul rises. Fears cannot be hidden. Haunting, dark and beautiful.

  • When We Were Young - Happy strumming. Wondering what in the world would it be like to be young again. You were told you'd never be lonely. Someone would always be there. Wrap up your soul and send it out where you don't have to pretend.

  • Let The Dog See The Rabbit - Rocking guitar. We pass the state of fear. It whispers because it's so near. Things will dissapear. Listen to what is being said. Singing and a voice echoes it back.

  • Clouds - Misery, memories, what was and what is now.  It lies in the heart where things can't be handled anymore. Hand up the darkness and give it up. Burn. Destruction.

  • Elizabeth - Someone is walking. You hear the heals hiting the solid surface. Music builds. Single guitar takes on another. Ghosts surround. Ghost spirits. You alone feel me. You alone comfort me. You alone feel, hear and see my secrets as they hide away from me. Wake the Gods. Here I stand.

  • The Truth Is The Trip - Guitar is strumming a tune. Wanting a release, a letting go. It turns into a gothic rock production. Wanting closeness. The truth is unleashed. Is it madness? What did you set out to find? You are unsure but everything lies in the soul. Did you come to find peace or is it war?

  • Memory's Death - Clocks keeping time. The final moment is drawing nearer. What memories do they bring and what do you remember? What is hidden and dark and what is brought to light. Slow tempo with violin. Time passes. What is beauty and what is evil? Was your life something or nothing?... and it fades.

  • Call Of The Void - Castle organs of horror, a sense of forboding. Drums beat out a calling beckoning you down. Dreams that keep you awake, return you to the void and what some may call the unknown. It's like a sacrifice. What is seen as real may become a dream one day. Electric rock and a voice telling of the senses.

Artful darkness through emotions. Easy listening dreamy alternative rock with ambient, transcendental and conceptual dark flavors which lends itself to possible movie/TV/game soundtracks. ~ Denise
