PAUL EASTHAM

Paul Eastham, originally from Stockport, UK, is a pianist, composer, singer / songwriter and front man of a touring rock band called ‘COAST’. Paul has a classical piano background with a very prestigious musical lineage. He was taught by Howard Morgan who was educated in music by the Hungarian, Louis Kentner. In his early teens, he gave recitals of Rachmaninov and Chopin but abandoned his career as a concert pianist at the age 18 to persue songwriting and composing. This has led to many experiences including becoming a producer of music and working with artists such as Atlantis, Orpheus, Winter of Clowns, Noisy Toyz and Oran in their early careers. Paul has also collaborated with other musicians such as Georgie Cullum and Slava Zenin. Paul produced and recorded on Duffy’s first commercial recording, the eponymously titled “Aimee Duffy EP”.

During the summer of 2007, Paul started a Celtic rock band called 'COAST'. This was the beginning of his career in playing on international stages and sharing bills with such artists as Bryan Adams, Paul Brady, The Kaiser Chiefs, Alphabeat, Arlo Guthrie, Runrig, Procol Harum, The Levellers, Seth Lakeman and many more. Paul and Coast are now managed by Runrig drummer 'Iain Bayne' who is a successful musician in his own right. Although Paul is regarded as a songwriter and vocalist, he remains, to this day, a classical composer and still plays piano.

COAST has released two studio albums and are now working on a third EP. There have been two albums released as solo compositions by Paul. The first is 'An cuan siar' which is Gaelic for, ‘The Atlantic’. Paul spent some time, in his childhood, growing up in the outskirts of Hebrides so Celtic music is and has been, very much, a strong focus in his composing. The second is 'P.o.W' or ‘Prisoner of War’. This is the most recent and was released in May 2014. The album was composed in 25 minutes and recorded in two weeks. It is based on an original painting owned by Paul and painted by a German P.o.W. Paul stared at the painting while playing on the piano and the result is the album. The front cover is part of the painting inspired by the album which, inside, includes a booklet with a story for each track. You could say that it became a concept album. Paul is now signed with a Nashville publishing company called 'Bluewater'. Recently Paul has been to France to work with world class producer 'James Sanger' who dubbed him as "The touch," due to his finesse and recognizable feel on the keyboard. Paul is moving up as a musician and artist and is producing more quality work each year. Here are samples of some of their songs:

To The Windward

The Caller

The Ones We Left Behind

long way home
